For pest control companies ยท SEO & local listings
Local SEO for pest control companies.
People search for the pest, not the company: wasp nest removal, mice in the walls, tick spraying. Your profile and pages have to match those searches one problem at a time.

The pest control company version
Why it matters.
A pest search is specific and urgent. Someone typing carpenter ants or bed bug inspection wants a company that clearly handles that pest nearby. A Google profile listing every service you offer, with recent reviews that mention specific pests and fast response, wins those searches. A profile with one generic category and old reviews loses them to companies that did the tedious setup.
Pages per pest and per town do the rest, with real local detail: which pests show up in which season, what conditions around homes in your area attract them, how you treat. That is genuinely useful content, not a template with a swapped name.
What I would build
For a pest control company.
Google Business Profile claimed, categorized and filled properly, with each pest service listed individually and photos of technicians and vehicles, or plain vehicles if you offer discreet service.
A real page per service and per town you serve, written about the problem a searcher has. Ticks, ants, rodents, stinging insects, each answering what you do and how soon you can come.
A review request that fires after every job, worded so it never names a sensitive pest, with discreet customers excluded. The BrightLocal Local Consumer Review Survey 2026 found 41% always read reviews when browsing.
Listings corrected and made consistent across the web, schema markup that matches each page, and Search Console connected and checked, so you can see which pest searches find you.
The mistake I see
Answering bad reviews with treatment details
A frustrated customer leaves a review about a pest that came back. The owner replies in detail: the address, the infestation, what was treated. That reply is public for good. Respond to every review briefly and calmly, and take the specifics offline. Discretion applies to review replies too.

Questions
What pest control companies ask.
Should I have a separate page for each pest?
For the pests you treat and want more of, yes. Searches are pest-specific, and a dedicated page answers better than a list on the services page. Skip pages for pests you rarely see. A thin page about a bug that barely exists around here helps nobody.
How do I get reviews without embarrassing customers?
Word the request neutrally, thanking them for the service without naming the problem. Let customers decide what to mention. Skip anyone who asked for discreet service, unless they bring it up. You will still get plenty of reviews from the ant, wasp and tick customers who are happy to say so.
Do national companies always outrank local ones?
Not in the map results, where proximity, relevance and reviews count for more than size. A local company with a complete profile, steady reviews and real pages per pest can hold its own nearby. National companies tend to win broad organic searches, which matter less for an urgent local call.
What comes after
Pairs well with.
A pest control website gets visited by someone who just saw something awful.
Usually nextAutomation for pest control companies.Recurring plans are where pest control makes money, and they leak through small failures: a missed reminder, an expired card, a callback nobody scheduled.
