For locksmiths ยท Paid ads
Paid ads for locksmiths.
Google restricts locksmith advertising because of fraud, and lead-gen operators still bid hard. Ads can work for a real shop, but only with verification and a page that proves you are real.

What you are paying for
Paid ads.
Ads amplify whatever is already there. If the page does not convert, ads make you lose money faster.
- Search and call-only campaigns for people already looking
- Retargeting for the ones who bounced
- Landing pages built for the ad, not the home page
- Call tracking so you know what a booked job cost
- A pause rule for when you are booked out

What I would build
For a locksmith.
Search and call-only campaigns for people already looking, limited to the area you can actually reach fast. Lockout customers will not wait while you drive across the state, and paying for those clicks is waste.
Landing pages built for the ad: lockouts, rekeying, car keys. Each one shows the owner, the van, the shop if there is one, honest pricing language and reviews, so the click lands on trust.
Call tracking so you know which ads produced real jobs and what each cost. Locksmith clicks are often wasted on price shoppers, and tracking shows which keywords bring paying customers.
A pause rule for when you are booked or off duty, so ads never ring an unanswered phone. Retargeting for visitors who looked at rekeying or commercial pages and left without booking.
The locksmith version
Why it matters.
Locksmith ads are a crowded, expensive auction full of operators who are not local. Competing head-on for broad lockout keywords usually means paying a lot for a call that might be a price shopper. The better approach is narrow: Local Services Ads if you qualify, tightly targeted search terms for the services you want, and a landing page that is clearly a real local business.
If that page looks like the lead-gen sites, the ad money buys suspicion. If it shows your face, your van, your pricing policy and your reviews, the same click can turn into a booked job. I check the destination first and fix it before spending anything.
The mistake I see
Bidding on every lockout term and competitor names
Some locksmiths bid on every lockout keyword and even competitors' names, hoping volume will sort itself out. It mostly produces expensive calls from people comparing quotes, and a reputation as one more pushy advertiser. Narrow keywords tied to the services and area you actually want tend to bring better customers for less.
How it goes
For a locksmith, step by step.
→ Keep scrolling. It moves sideways.
Check the destination
If the page is not ready, I fix that first or I do not start.
Start small and local
Tight radius, tight keywords, real budget cap.
Measure to booked work
Not clicks, not impressions. Jobs.
Scale or stop
Both are acceptable outcomes and I will tell you which.
Step five is you.

Questions
What locksmiths ask.
Can a locksmith run Google Ads at all?
Yes, but Google treats locksmith services as a restricted category, and you will likely need to complete advanced verification or qualify for Local Services Ads. It is extra paperwork, and it keeps many fraudulent operators out, which works in a legitimate shop's favor. I check where you stand before planning anything.
Are Local Services Ads worth it for locksmiths?
If you can pass the screening, they can be valuable, because the badge and your reviews appear right at the top and you pay per lead rather than per click. The screening itself is a trust signal customers can see. Your reviews and responsiveness still decide whether the leads turn into jobs.
Should we advertise our lowest price in ads?
No. A low headline price looks exactly like the bait-and-switch ads customers fear, and it attracts the most price-sensitive callers. Advertise clarity instead: upfront pricing, a local shop, a named locksmith. Customers who value that are the ones worth paying for.
