For real estate agents · Brand identity & design

Personal branding for real estate agents.

Your brand has to sit beside your brokerage's without competing with it or breaking its rules. Done well, sellers remember your name, not just the logo on the sign.

The real estate brokerage version

Why it matters.

Sellers interview several agents, often from the same few brokerages. If every agent's marketing uses the same template, logo and colors, the seller has nothing to remember you by. A personal brand system, designed inside your brokerage's rules, gives you one consistent look across your listing presentation, social, riders where allowed and the mail your sphere gets.

Agents also change brokerages. A personal brand that lives only inside one brokerage's templates disappears when you move. Building your own mark, palette and type, used alongside the required brokerage identification, means your sphere still recognizes you after a switch.

What I would build

For a real estate brokerage.

01A personal mark that sits beside the brokerage

Primary logo plus stacked and single-color versions, designed to pair with your brokerage's logo the way its guidelines require, on signs, riders, postcards and social.

02A palette that complements, not clashes

Colors with hex, RGB and CMYK values chosen to work next to brokerage colors. If your brokerage requires its own palette, I design within it and set you apart with type and layout.

03Type for presentations and print

Typefaces chosen and licensed, with sizes specified for listing presentations, property brochures and postcards, so everything you hand a seller looks like it came from one person.

04A rule sheet your team and vendors follow

A one-page rule sheet anybody can follow: your assistant, your photographer, the print shop or a teammate. Files organized and handed over, yours to keep through any brokerage change.

The mistake I see

Dressing like a luxury agent in every market

Gold foil, black backgrounds and script fonts look expensive and say very little. If your business is first-time buyers and starter homes, that look pushes them away. Your brand should fit the clients you actually serve and the homes you actually sell. Credibility comes from consistency and proof, not from looking like a magazine ad.

How it goes

For a real estate brokerage, step by step.

→ Keep scrolling. It moves sideways.

  1. Look at what exists

Your current marks, your competitors, and what your customers already associate with you.

  2. Direction, not options

Two directions, not eight. Eight is a way of making you do the deciding.

  3. Build the system

The mark, then everything that has to sit next to it.

  4. Hand it over

Organized files and a rule sheet. No hostage situation.

  5. Step five is you.

The free Receipt shows what your real estate brokerage should fix first. About half a minute, no card.

Questions

What real estate agents ask.

Can I have a personal logo if my brokerage has strict branding?

Often yes, within limits. Many brokerages allow a personal or team mark as long as the brokerage name appears clearly and in the required way. Your managing broker has the final word, so I review the guidelines before designing anything. The system I build follows those rules from the start.

Should my brand be my name or a team name?

If you work alone and plan to stay that way, your name is usually stronger, because referrals ask for a person. A team name makes sense when you have or plan to have agents under you and want the brand to outlast any one person. Check your state and brokerage rules on team names first.

Do I need a new headshot as part of branding?

Probably. Your headshot appears on signs, social, presentations and directory profiles. If it is old, heavily retouched or no longer looks like you, sellers notice when you walk in. The rule sheet specifies how your photos should look, and the photographer is booked separately.

What comes after
