For plumbers ยท Brand identity & design
Branding for plumbing companies.
When a stranger lets a plumber into their house at night, they are trusting the logo on the van and the shirt. That trust is earned or lost before the first wrench comes out.

The plumbing company version
Why it matters.
Consider the homeowner watching from the window as your van pulls up after a late call. A clean, consistent van, a shirt with the same logo, an invoice that matches: those details say established company, not a guy with a truck and a phone number. Plumbing carries a reputation for surprise bills and no-shows, and looking like a real business is how you step outside it.
Brand matters on the remodel side too. A contractor choosing a plumbing sub and a homeowner choosing who opens their walls both look at whether you seem organized. A logo that looks homemade on an estimate makes a well-priced quote feel risky.
What I would build
For a plumbing company.
Primary logo plus stacked and single-color versions. Plumbing vans are seen in traffic and in driveways for seconds at a time, so the mark has to be simple, legible from a distance and work in one color on shirts and hats.
A palette with hex, RGB and CMYK values. Estimates, invoices, door hangers, the van wrap and your Google profile photos should all match, instead of three slightly different blues from three different suppliers.
Typefaces chosen and licensed, with sizes and weights set. A water heater replacement quote or a remodel rough-in estimate is a document people judge, and clean type makes the number look considered rather than made up on the spot.
A rule sheet anybody can follow, plus files organized and handed over, yours to keep. When you add a second van or order new uniforms, nobody has to dig up an old email or guess the colors.
The mistake I see
A huge logo and a phone number nobody can read
Plumbing vans often get wrapped with an oversized logo, a photo of a faucet and the phone number in small type near the bumper. The van is a moving ad, and the number is the only thing a driver behind you needs. The brand system should set the order: name, what you do, number, all legible at a distance.

Look at what exists
Your current marks, your competitors, and what your customers already associate with you.
Direction, not options
Two directions, not eight. Eight is a way of making you do the deciding.
Build the system
The mark, then everything that has to sit next to it.
Hand it over

Questions
What plumbers ask.
Should our brand look different for remodel work?
No. One brand, applied differently. Remodel materials can use more photography and a calmer layout, while emergency materials lead with the number. Splitting into two brands divides the recognition and reviews you have built. The rule sheet covers how the same identity flexes across both kinds of work.
We are a family company with an old logo. Should we keep it?
Maybe. A logo with history can be worth keeping, especially if people around town know it. Often the fix is a cleaner redraw of the same idea, with proper files and colors, rather than a new mark. I look at what exists before recommending anything.
What does a plumbing brand need beyond the logo?
The versions you will use on vans, shirts and small stickers, a color palette with print and screen values, typefaces for estimates and invoices, and a one-page rule sheet. That is enough for a plumbing company to look consistent everywhere without hiring a designer for every reorder.
What comes after
Pairs well with.
Someone with water coming through the ceiling will not read your About page.
