Branding for roofers who look permanent.

Your brand shows up on a yard sign, a truck door and a dumpster long before anyone reads your website. It has to say established and local from across the street.

The roofing company version

Why it matters.

Picture a homeowner after a wind storm. Three trucks have stopped on the street this week. One has a hand-lettered magnet, one has an out-of-state plate, and one has a clean logo that matches the yard sign two doors down. Guess which one gets the call. In roofing, the brand is a trust signal before it is anything else, because the homeowner is about to let a stranger tear off the thing keeping rain out.

Most roofing logos are a house outline with a swoosh, which makes every company look interchangeable. Consistency does more work than cleverness. When the truck, the shirts, the estimate PDF and the Google profile all match, you look like a company that has done this for years and will pick up when the warranty question comes.

What I would build

For a roofing company.

01A mark that reads from the street

A primary logo plus the stacked and single-color versions you actually need for truck doors, yard signs and the dumpster banner. Tested at a distance, because that is how most people will ever see it.

02Colors that survive vinyl and sun

A palette with hex, RGB and CMYK values, picked to hold up on vinyl wraps, printed signs and screens. Any color that fades to a sad pink on a sign by August gets cut early.

03A rule sheet your sign shop can follow

One page that tells the wrap shop, the shirt printer and whoever builds your estimate template exactly what to use. No more three slightly different logos on three trucks.

04Files you own outright

Every file organized and handed over. When you add a crew truck or reorder yard signs, you send the file yourself without calling a designer or begging someone for the originals.

The mistake I see

Looking like every other storm crew on the street

Roofers often rush a logo the week they register the business and never revisit it. The result is a generic house-and-swoosh mark, mismatched truck lettering and a phone number in three fonts. After a storm, that look blends in with the crews who drove in from somewhere else. Homeowners are told to be careful about exactly that, so looking temporary costs real jobs.

How it goes

For a roofing company, step by step.

→ Keep scrolling. It moves sideways.

  1. Look at what exists

Your current marks, your competitors, and what your customers already associate with you.

  2. Direction, not options

Two directions, not eight. Eight is a way of making you do the deciding.

  3. Build the system

The mark, then everything that has to sit next to it.

  4. Hand it over

Organized files and a rule sheet. No hostage situation.

  5. Step five is you.

The free Receipt shows what your roofing company should fix first. About half a minute, no card.

Questions

What roofers ask.

Is a rebrand worth it if most of my work comes from referrals?

Referrals still check you out. The neighbor gives your name, and the homeowner searches it, drives past your sign, or looks at your truck in the next driveway. If what they see looks thrown together, the referral loses some of its strength. A rebrand does not replace referrals. It stops undercutting them.

Do I have to reletter every truck at once?

No. I plan the rollout so the new mark can live alongside the old one for a while. Yard signs and the estimate template usually go first because they are cheap and seen often. Trucks change as they come due for lettering or a wrap, so you are not paying for everything in one season.

Should my brand say storm repair or insurance work?

Keep the brand itself broad, because storm work comes and goes and your name should outlast any single service. Storm repair and insurance help belong on your website and in your messaging, where there is room to explain them. The logo just has to look like a company a homeowner can trust to still be here.

What comes after
