A remodel is not a product. A design deposit can be.
Nobody checks out a kitchen remodel from a cart. What can sell online is the first paid step: a design consultation, a planning package, or the deposit that reserves a spot in your build schedule.

The remodeling company version
Why it matters.
Remodeling clients spend months deciding. They save photos, argue about islands, and collect opinions before anyone touches a wall. A store full of priced kitchens would mislead them, because every house hides something behind the drywall. If a vendor pitches you a Shopify catalog of bathroom packages, ask who is going to honor those prices after demo reveals rot under the tub.
The real fit is the paid first step. A lot of remodelers give away design time to people who are only collecting ideas. A fixed-price design consultation or planning package, bought online before the visit, filters out the browsers and pays you for the expertise. A deposit link after the contract is signed does the same job at the other end of the sale.
What I would build
For a remodeling company.
One page that explains what the consultation includes, how long the visit runs, what you hand over afterward, and whether the fee comes off the project if they sign. It answers the hesitation before the homeowner has to ask about it.
If you offer design and planning separate from the build, it can be sold as a set package with clear deliverables: measurements, a layout, a selections list. The product page says what is in it and what is not, so nobody expects drawings you never promised.
A deposit link sent with the signed contract, built so the homeowner can pay from the couch that night. I test the mobile checkout on an actual phone, start to finish, the way a homeowner would use it, before it goes live.
Winter is when people plan their spring and summer projects. Banners, an email to past clients and social graphics announcing the consultation package go out while homeowners are dreaming, not after your calendar is already full.
The mistake I see
Giving away the design work, then calling it marketing
Remodelers often spend hours on free design visits that end with the homeowner taking the ideas to a cheaper contractor. Charging for that first step is a pricing decision before it is a store decision. Once you decide to charge, a simple online purchase makes the fee feel normal and official, instead of something awkward to bring up at the kitchen table.
What you get
E-commerce.
A store built end to end, from the name on it to the checkout.
- The storefront, designed and built on Shopify
- Product pages that answer the question before it is asked

- Visual merchandising, and the photography direction to feed it
- Mobile checkout flow, tested on an actual phone
- Launch assets: banners, email, social, the lot

Questions
What remodelers and home improvement contractors ask.
Will charging for a consultation scare people off?
It will scare off some people who were never going to hire you, and that is partly the point. The ones who pay are telling you they are serious. The page has to explain why it costs money and what they get for it. Crediting the fee toward the project if they sign makes the decision a lot easier.
Can homeowners make progress payments through the store?
I would not run progress payments through a storefront. Those belong in your invoicing or project software, tied to the milestones in your contract. The store handles the clean, fixed-price pieces: the consultation, a planning package, the first deposit. Mixing the two makes your books messier and confuses the client about what they owe.
Is this worth it if most of my work comes from referrals?
Possibly not. If your pipeline is mostly architects and past clients, a paid consultation is better handled with a conversation and an invoice. The online version helps when strangers find you and you need a way to sort the serious ones from the idea collectors. I will tell you which side you are on during the call.
