For accountants and CPAs ยท Content design

Content design for accountants: organizers and guides.

Your clients need clear instructions more than inspiration. Designed checklists and guides cut the back-and-forth that eats your busiest weeks.

The accounting firm version

Why it matters.

Every winter, staff answer the same questions: what documents do I need, where do I upload them, did you get my brokerage statement. A clean, branded checklist by client type, a one-page guide to the portal and a simple timeline of what happens after upload answer those questions before they become calls. Your team still does the accounting. The design stops the repeat questions.

Content design is the right fit when you already know what to say and nobody has time to make it look professional. I set the templates once, then produce batches before the season, for year-end planning or for a specific campaign. You publish from your own accounts and send from your own email.

What I would build

For an accounting firm.

01Document checklists by client type

Separate checklists for wage earners, small business owners, landlords and retirees. Editable templates your staff can update each year without breaking the layout or calling a designer.

02A portal how-to people follow

A one-page visual guide to uploading documents securely, written for the client who has never used a portal. Fewer emailed attachments, and fewer calls asking whether something arrived.

03A year-end planning newsletter

An email template for fall: what to think about before the year closes, who should book a planning meeting, and how to book it. Designed once and reused every year.

04Seminar and referral partner collateral

Slides and handouts for small business workshops or lunch-and-learns with banks and law firms that send you referrals. Print-ready files for when paper is on the table.

The mistake I see

Designing documents nobody can fill out on a phone

Tax organizers designed for print get sent as PDFs and opened on phones. Clients cannot read them, cannot fill them in, and give up. If a document is meant to be completed, it needs a version that works on a small screen, or a simple form instead. The prettiest organizer is useless if nobody finishes it.

What you get

Content design.

  • Post and story graphics in your brand
  • Templates you can reuse without me
  • Case studies and before-and-after layouts
  • Email and newsletter design
  • Print collateral when you need it
Price. Single fixes start at $499. Monthly batches are quoted after a call.

How it goes

For an accounting firm, step by step.

→ Keep scrolling. It moves sideways.

  1. Set the templates

So everything after this is fast and consistent.

  2. Agree a batch

Monthly or per campaign, whichever suits how you work.

  3. Make it

Delivered as finished files, sized for where they are going.

  4. You publish

On your schedule, from your accounts.

  5. Step five is you.

The free Receipt shows what your accounting firm should fix first. About half a minute, no card.

Questions

What accountants and CPAs ask.

Can you update our existing tax organizer instead of starting over?

Yes, if you own the source file. I redesign the layout in your brand, simplify the sections and set it up as a template your staff can edit each year. If it only exists as a scanned PDF, I rebuild it, which takes longer but leaves you with something editable.

Do clients actually read newsletters from their accountant?

They read the useful ones. A short, specific email in fall about planning moves before the year closes gets opened. A long monthly digest of tax news does not. I design for the short version, and you decide how often it goes out.

Is this the same as social media management?

No. Content design delivers finished files and templates, and you publish or send them. Social media management includes writing, scheduling and posting. A firm with a marketing coordinator usually wants content design. A firm with nobody in that seat usually wants social management.

What comes after
