For mortgage brokers ยท Voice agents
A voice agent for brokers that never quotes a rate.
Buyers call at night and on weekends, right after they see the house. A voice agent can answer, collect the basics and book a call. It never quotes a rate.

You vs. Joe Schmo Mortgage.
Left is what a missed call does to you today. Right is Joe Schmo Mortgage and their voicemail. Drag the line, then hit the button.
Crickets on the left. That is the problem.
They called the next name.
"Hi, you have reached Joe Schmo Mortgage. Please leave a message after the beep."
Illustration. Joe is made up. Your competitor is not.
What you are paying for
Voice agents.
A voice agent that answers when you are with a customer, on a ladder, or closed.
- Answers out of hours, or when you are already on a call
- Captures name, number, address and the problem
- Confirms back what it heard, then texts a copy
- Escalates emergencies to a human immediately
- Books routine appointments where that makes sense
- Full transcript logged against the contact

What I would build
For a mortgage brokerage.
Name, number, purchase or refinance, timeline and realtor. The agent repeats it back, texts a copy and logs the full transcript against the contact record.
Consultation calls booked into your actual availability, with reminders sent automatically, so you start Monday with a schedule instead of a stack of voicemails to return.
Asked about rates, it explains that a loan officer will discuss options after learning about the borrower, then books that call. It reads only from what you give it.
A closing at risk, an appraisal problem, a realtor needing an answer before an offer deadline. You set the rules, and those calls reach a person immediately.
The mortgage brokerage version
Why it matters.
Sunday afternoon, a couple leaves an open house, calls the broker their realtor mentioned, and gets voicemail. An agent that answers, says it is automated, captures their names, number, timeline and realtor, confirms it back and books a call for Monday morning keeps that couple yours. Without it, they call the next name on the list.
Strict rules govern a mortgage voice agent. It never quotes rates, payments, fees or terms. It does not say whether someone will qualify. It does not collect Social Security numbers or account details. Its first words tell the caller it is automated, and a person is available on request. A realtor calling about a deal in trouble is escalated to you immediately.
The mistake I see
Letting the agent answer 'what is your rate today'
It is often the first thing a caller asks, and a carelessly built agent will try to answer. Any rate it gives is unqualified, possibly stale, and can create disclosure obligations. The agent I build redirects every time, politely, and books a call with you instead. That answer is written and tested before launch.
How it goes

Write the rules
What counts as an emergency, and who it goes to.
Build and constrain
It reads from your data. It does not improvise prices.
Test it badly on purpose
Angry, panicked, noisy, strong accent, interrupting. That is how real calls arrive.
Go live out of hours first
The lowest-risk window, and where most of the value is anyway.

Questions
What mortgage brokers ask.
Is a voice agent compliant for a licensed mortgage business?
The agent is built not to do anything that requires a license: no rates, no terms, no qualification decisions, no application data. It collects contact details and books calls. Your compliance contact should still review the script before launch, and the transcripts are kept so you can audit them.
Should it answer during business hours too?
Start with after hours, when buyers often call and you are least available. If daytime calls go unanswered while you are in closings, you can extend it to overflow. Realtors and current borrowers should always have a direct way to reach you that skips the agent.
Will callers mind talking to an automated system?
Some will, and they can ask for a person at any point. Plenty would rather get a clear answer and a booked call than voicemail on a weekend. It says it is automated before anything else, so nobody feels tricked.
