For auto detailers and car washes ยท Paid ads

Paid ads for auto detailers.

Detailing ads can work well because the result is visual and the need is seasonal. They fail when the click lands on a page with no prices, no before-and-afters and no way to book.

The detailing shop version

Why it matters.

In early spring, people search for car detailing near them after months of salt. A search ad aimed at interior and salt removal, landing on a page with before-and-afters and open slots, can fill your calendar. The same ad sending people to a home page with a phone number and an old gallery wastes the click and the money behind it.

Social ads suit detailing better than most trades. A before-and-after video in a feed reaches car owners who were not searching but know their car needs it. Retargeting brings back people who looked at coating pages without booking. All of it depends on a page that converts. If the page is weak, I fix it first.

What I would build

For a detailing shop.

01Search campaigns for the work you want

Separate campaigns for interior detailing, coatings and pre-sale details, aimed at people already searching, with a tight radius and a real budget cap on each.

02Landing pages built for each ad

A coating ad lands on a coating page with the process, before-and-afters and consultation booking. Built for the ad, not the home page, so the click finds what it was promised.

03Tracking to booked jobs

Call and form tracking, so you know which ad produced which booked job and what it cost. Clicks and impressions are not the measure. Booked cars are.

04A pause rule for full calendars

When spring fills your calendar, ads pause until you have room again. Paying for leads you cannot schedule wastes money and frustrates customers who cannot get in.

The mistake I see

Advertising a cheap wash to sell coatings

Some detailers run discounted wash ads hoping to upsell coatings once the car is in. The ad attracts bargain hunters who are not coating buyers, and the upsell feels like a trick. If you want coating customers, advertise coatings to people searching for them, with honest process and pricing on the landing page.

What you get

Paid ads.

Ads amplify whatever is already there. If the page does not convert, ads make you lose money faster.

  • Search and call-only campaigns for people already looking
  • Retargeting for the ones who bounced
  • Landing pages built for the ad, not the home page
  • Call tracking so you know what a booked job cost
  • A pause rule for when you are booked out
Price. Quoted after a call. Management fee plus your ad spend, which goes to the platform, not to me.

How it goes

For a detailing shop, step by step.

→ Keep scrolling. It moves sideways.

  1. Check the destination

If the page is not ready, I fix that first or I do not start.

  2. Start small and local

Tight radius, tight keywords, real budget cap.

  3. Measure to booked work

    Not clicks, not impressions. Jobs.

  4. Scale or stop

Both are acceptable outcomes and I will tell you which.

  5. Step five is you.

The free Receipt shows what your detailing shop should fix first. About half a minute, no card.

Questions

What auto detailers and car washes ask.

When should a detailer run ads?

Before demand peaks, not during. Late winter into early spring for salt cleanup, early summer for coatings and pre-sale details, fall for protection. Once you are booked solid, pause. Ads are most useful for filling gaps and launching higher-ticket services, not adding to a schedule that is already full.

Should I run Facebook or Instagram ads?

They can work well, because before-and-after content fits naturally in a feed. Keep the radius tight to where you actually work, especially if you are mobile. Use video or side-by-side images, a clear offer and a link to booking. Test small, measure booked jobs and keep only what produces work.

Do ads work for a brand new detailer?

Not yet, usually. Without reviews, a gallery and a booking page, ads send people to a business that looks unproven. Build the profile, collect reviews from your first customers and set up a solid landing page. Then ads have something to amplify instead of exposing a thin presence.

What comes after

Pairs well with.
